Why Venture?

Why are we focusing on outdoor venture, when it comes to homeschool cooperation?

We live in a time of chronic disease, unprecedented levels of mental illness and depression. The modern lifestyle of sedentary living, a comfort crisis and nature deprivation as well as being starved of beauty is largely contributing. It's hard in our modern world, especially if we live in the city to find opportunity to be physically active, get enough fresh air, sunshine and to be in Gods beautiful nature. Reconnecting with the natural world and the way God originally designed us can reduce our chronic illness, weakness, myopia, depression and obesity. It can give us mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health.Gods original design for us goes back to Eden. Man was given charge of the earth, to be it's steward, to care for it, make it flourish and to work hard to grow food. To create, produce, heal and have authority and responsibility over nature. In doing so we also would work by the sweat of our brow, fast and feast, live in Gods nature and avoid idleness.God also instilled in us a spark of his creative, life giving spirit. This leads us to create beauty and bring order to nature. Beauty is incredibly healing. There is nothing more beautiful than nature, except perhaps the inside of a vaulted cathedral.  True beauty elevates the mind, heart and spirit and inspires us to seek goodness. True beauty influences our mind and desires to strive towards altruism and virtue. We can see in nature, an icon of God, his truth, wisdom and beauty. In a time of unprecedented luxury, comfort, sedentary living, technology/screens and parting ways with Gods original design for man, we believe it is imperative to reconnect with that original design. We want to learn to produce, create, exercise discipline, enjoy challenge and work up a sweat. Get out in Gods nature and find our true humanity and design once again. Enjoy the beauty of Gods creation and learn the truths that we can find in his handiwork.
We, modern humans also are lacking in what used to be common knowledge and skills. Today we live very soft, technologically dominated lives, trapped indoors and plugged in to electronic devices. It's becoming a problem. Kids are developing myopia at incredible rates, younger every year. Vitamin D defficiency. Smart phone addictions. A shorter attention span. Lack of motivation or interest in real world activities. Social handicaps, anxiety and depression because of social media. Modern people also lack confidence in themselves and their abilities and have increasingly dwindling self reliance and independence. Outdoor venturing is an excellent way to counteract all of those negative consequences of otherwise very useful modern technology. Kids can find confidence as they learn new skills while experiencing the thrill of adventure and forging new, real, human relationships in the context of exciting challenges that facilitate growth and create strong and healthy youth.
